Enjoy a beautiful sunset above Paramaribo in this third panorama from the Jules Albert Wijdenbosch bridge with a truly spectacular cloud formation in the sky. Hear the sound of strong winds as you stand 52 meters (171 ft.) high atop the bridge with a great view across the Suriname river. To the west you can see the city of Paramaribo and to the east the district of Commewijne. The lights are just starting to come on in the city as it gets darker. From here you also have a good view of Nieuwe Haven (New Harbor), the main port facility in Suriname as far as general cargoes and containers are concerned.

The bridge, named after President Jules Albert Wijdenbosch (1996–2000), was completed in the year 2000 and is 1,504 meters (4,934 ft.) long. It consists of two lanes and is not accessible to pedestrians, although clearly that doesn’t stop people from walking across from time to time. 🙂
